A man who is eating or lying with his wife or preparing to go to sleep in humility, thankfulness and temperance, is, by Christian standards, in an infinitely higher state than one who is listening to Bach or reading Plato in a state of pride.
C. S. Lewis
I want to apply the profound attributes of God to the ordinary things of life. As I see God’s beauty and majesty I will fall to my knees in the authentic humility that only comes from His presence. True humility will cause us to venture into the dangerous places of life in order to please our maker. As we lose our pride we’re willing to stand on a soap box in the street to preach the truth. We’re also willing to be quiet, even when we have all the right things to say. As we learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit directing us in His will. Every moment can become an adventure. Eating, sleeping, preaching, writing, loving, exploring, and fighting for something bigger than ourselves.
